Physical Education

The following key standards apply to all grades (k-5). As a vital component of the total education process, the physical education curriculum will allow students to partake in a variety of movement activities, which promote a healthy lifestyle and develop athletic skills. Further, all activities will help enhance a student's fitness level and foster a positive self-concept. 

                                                   

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM
 
Volleyball
 
1.0  Students demonstrate knowledge of basic rules and terminology of       the game of volleyball.

2.0  Students will develop the proper mechanics necessary to play volleyball. They will use techniques such as underhand serve, forearm pass, overhand set, and ready position.

3.0 Students will exhibit an understanding of the basic rotation pattern used by all players on the court.

4.0 Students will show adequate safety procedures. Further, they will display appropriate care and use of the volleyball equipment.

5.0 Students will demonstrate characteristics of cooperation, sportsmanship, and teamwork. These skills can be applied across all subject areas.
 
Soccer
 
1.0  Students will demonstrate knowledge of basic rules and terminology pertinent to the game of soccer.

2.0  Students will develop proper mechanics needed to play soccer. These techniques include: dribbling, passing, kicking, throw-ins, trapping, and  goal keeping.

3.0  Students will exhibit an understanding of the player positions on the field.

4.0 Students will demonstrate adequate safety procedures. Further, they will show appropriate care and use of the soccer equipment.

5.0 Students will display characteristics of cooperation, sportsmanship, and teamwork. These skills can be applied across all subject areas. 
 
Flag Football
 
1.0  Students will demonstrate knowledge of basic rules, skills, and terminology essential to the sport of flag football.

2.0 Students will develop proper techniques/skills, which include throwing, catching, hiking, punting, kicking, and running of patterns.

3.0  Students will exhibit an understanding of player positions, both offensively and defensively.

4.0  Students will show adequate safety procedures necessary to play the game of flag football. 

5.0  Students will demonstrate characteristics of cooperation, sportsmanship, and teamwork. These traits can be applied across all subject areas.
